Counseling Specialty Areas

The field of “Counseling” is huge.  Someone could take a whole lifetime (or 2) and not understand everything there is to know about the field.  After all, we’re talking about understanding human behavior and the human mind, arguably the most complex “computer” the world has ever known.

That’s why therapists specialize.

Like my colleagues, I’ve found area within the field that are of interest to me and for which I feel like I’m naturally good at “fixing”.  So I’ve invested my time in developing these area.

My specialties include:

  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Substance Abuse (Chemical Addictions)
  • Digital Addictions (Video Games, Social Media, etc.)
  • Men’s Issues (Pornography, Sexual Addictions, Relationship Issues)
  • General Wellbeing

Finding a therapist who whose counseling specialty areas line up with your challenges is important.  But, in just about every case, another factor is even more important.  That factor is “client/clinician match”.  Basically, this means you should try to find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable.  In fact, research shows that the rapport between a client and their therapist is THE most important factor in terms of expecting good outcomes.

That’s why I offer a free Breakthrough Session to anyone who thinks they may benefit from working with a therapist.  This is phone call between you and me where we try to identify your one (or more) most significant sticking point.  Then we decide, together, if working together makes sense.
